About the Role
This role is responsible for driving sales growth across a defined territory by developing new business opportunities and managing key customer relationships. You will be accountable for achieving sales targets, promoting the company’s products and services, and maintaining a strong presence in target industries.
A significant focus of the role is new business development, alongside effective territory planning and customer engagement. You will also ensure timely and accurate reporting, while representing the company professionally at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve and exceed area sales targets within agreed timeframes
- Maintain a minimum of 8 effective customer calls per week
- Ensure at least 80% of activity is focused on new business development
- Identify and secure specifications within target industries
- Manage territory planning effectively to maximise opportunities
- Maintain strong product knowledge across existing and new ranges
- Sell in line with agreed product mix and company strategy
- Monitor performance and take corrective action where needed
- Contribute to sales strategy and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer records
- Follow up all leads and enquiries within one week
- Submit weekly call plans, visit reports, and monthly reports on time
- Use CRM systems and reporting tools effectively
- Maintain regular communication with internal teams
- Provide additional reporting as required by management
- Represent the company professionally at all times
- Maintain a strong understanding of company policies and procedures
- Present a professional personal image aligned with company standards
- Ensure company vehicle is well maintained
- Demonstrate a positive, team-focused attitude
- Be flexible to travel, exhibitions, and occasional extended hours
- Manage expenses responsibly
What We’re Looking For
- Proven track record in sales, ideally within industrial or technical environments
- Experience in electrical, electronic, or automation-related industries
- Knowledge of industrial systems and applications
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to influence and negotiate at all levels
- Commercial awareness and professional selling techniques
- Good level of computer literacy
- Ability to plan and manage territory effectively
- Understanding of safety control systems
- Knowledge of electrical connector technology
- Awareness of safety legislation and standards (desirable)
- Basic understanding of electrical control circuitry (desirable)
- Electrical or Electronic Engineering qualification (HNC, HND, or Degree preferred)
