Overview
A leading organisation within the industrial safety sector is seeking an experienced Account Manager to take responsibility for sales growth, customer retention, and business development across the North East region of England.
This field-based role will focus on managing and expanding relationships within an established customer base while identifying and converting new business opportunities across a portfolio of safety detection and protection solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities within the designated territory.
- Manage and grow existing customer accounts through relationship-led selling and strategic account planning.
- Develop structured sales plans to prioritise opportunities and achieve revenue targets.
- Create customer-focused proposals that demonstrate long-term value and operational benefit.
- Follow up and convert qualified leads generated through marketing activity, exhibitions, networking events, and industry engagement.
- Consistently achieve or exceed sales and profitability objectives.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date sales activity, forecasts, and pipeline information within the CRM system.
- Manage the sales funnel effectively to support forecasting accuracy and commercial performance.
- Monitor and evaluate tender opportunities within the region.
- Build strong collaborative relationships with internal teams including sales, service, engineering, and project delivery functions.
- Work closely with marketing and wider commercial teams to identify growth opportunities and support targeted campaigns.
- Support key account activity in partnership with regional and national stakeholders.
- Represent the business at exhibitions, seminars, networking events, and industry workshops.
- Take a consultative and solutions-led approach to customer engagement.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and integrated management systems.
- Promote safe working practices and support occupational health & safety standards.
- Operate in a manner that minimises environmental impact.
What we're looking for
- Proven track record within business-to-business technical sales.
- Experience within industrial safety, technical equipment, engineering, or related sectors is preferred.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to manage complex sales cycles.
- Understanding of industry standards and regulatory environments is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills.
- Ability to build trusted long-term customer relationships.
- Confident presentation and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage conflict and achieve positive commercial outcomes.
- Strong organisational and planning capability.
- IT literate with experience using CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Capable of producing professional customer communications and commercial proposals.
- Degree or technical qualification preferred but not essential.
- Relevant sales or industry experience will also be considered.
